Most applicants need three things: a valid NRIC or FIN, proof of income, and proof of address. If you apply through SingPass, the system pulls your identity and income details directly from government records, so in many cases there's little or nothing to upload yourself. Supporting documents come up only when SingPass can't supply something, for example if you're self-employed or your income isn't captured in CPF records. Foreigners on a valid work pass go through the same process, with their work pass standing in for the NRIC.
This guide covers what you need as a Singapore citizen or PR, what changes if you're a foreigner, and how the SingPass application shortcut works.
Whether you're applying online or walking into a branch, EZ Loan needs to confirm who you are, what you earn, and where you live before a loan is approved. In practice that means:
1. Identity document. Your NRIC (Singapore citizens and PRs) or your work pass and passport (foreigners, more on this below).
2. Proof of income. This is usually your latest payslips, or your CPF contribution history if you're salaried. If you're self-employed, income can typically be shown through bank statements, IRAS Notice of Assessment, or invoices reflecting regular income.
3. Proof of address. A recent utility bill, telco bill, or bank statement with your current address is the standard route.
4. Bank or PayNow details, if you want funds transferred. EZ Loan can pay out by PayNow, bank transfer or cash, whichever you prefer.
Exactly what's requested depends on your situation. A salaried Singapore citizen applying through SingPass may only need to confirm a couple of fields; a self-employed applicant will usually need to provide income evidence directly.
If you start your application online, EZ Loan's process runs through SingPass. SingPass MyInfo draws on government-held records, so most applicants don't need to gather those documents themselves.
That's the practical upside of applying through SingPass over a purely paper-based process: fewer documents to hunt down, less back-and-forth, and less room for a missing document to slow things down.
Supporting documents come into play only when SingPass genuinely can't supply something. That's most often income data for self-employed applicants, or anyone whose income isn't reflected in CPF records. In those cases, you'll be asked for the specific document that fills the gap, not a full manual paperwork set.
EZ Loan accepts eligible foreign applicants holding valid work passes. As with citizens and PRs, the exact document list depends on your circumstances, but expect to need:
Borrowing limits for foreigners are set by law and vary by annual income. That's a separate topic from documentation, covered in our foreigner loan guide.
The exact document checklist can vary by work pass type (Employment Pass, S Pass, Work Permit) and by individual case. If you hold a Dependant Pass, or need details on application support in another language, check directly with EZ Loan before you apply.
If SingPass can supply everything needed, that's the whole document step. If it can't (because you're self-employed, a foreigner whose income sits outside CPF/IRAS records, or your situation is otherwise non-standard), you'll be asked to provide the specific supporting document that closes the gap, rather than a generic list.
Employer contact isn't part of the normal process. EZ Loan does not contact an applicant's employer as a matter of course; that only happens if it becomes necessary because documentation can't otherwise be provided.
Even if you start your application online, EZ Loan carries out identity verification face-to-face at its approved place of business before a loan is granted. That happens at the branch. EZ Loan has two, at Beach Road and Marina Square, both open Monday to Saturday, 11am to 7pm, closed Sundays and public holidays (as of 12 August 2026).
Bring the physical version of whatever identity document you used online (NRIC, or work pass and passport for foreigners) so it can be checked against your application. Most completed applications are handled in a single branch visit.
Before you sign anything, it's worth confirming the lender is actually licensed. You can check any moneylender against the official Registry at the Ministry of Law's Registry of Moneylenders. EZ Loan's own licence number is 19/2026.
What documents do I need to apply for a loan with EZ Loan?
Most applicants need a valid NRIC or FIN, proof of income, and proof of address. If you apply through SingPass, EZ Loan's system pulls your identity and income details electronically, so there's often little to bring in person until the branch verification step.
What documents does EZ Loan accept as income proof if I'm self-employed?
EZ Loan accepts bank statements showing regular income, an IRAS Notice of Assessment, or invoices as income proof for self-employed applicants. The exact requirement depends on your case.
Can I apply for a loan at EZ Loan without SingPass?
EZ Loan's online application runs through SingPass. If you don't have SingPass access, contact either branch to ask what applies to your situation.
Does EZ Loan contact my employer when I apply for a loan?
Not as standard practice. EZ Loan only contacts an employer if necessary, when documentation can't otherwise be provided.
What documents do foreigners need to apply for a loan with EZ Loan?
EZ Loan accepts eligible foreign applicants holding valid work passes. The document framework is the same as for citizens and PRs: identity document, income proof, address proof, with a work pass and passport replacing the NRIC. Eligibility and borrowing limits differ by residency status, and approval is always subject to assessment.
